As we wrap up our plant unit in science, one of our culminating activities was for students to create a glog to share everything they had learned about photosynthesis. This was our first experience using Glogster, which is a site that allows you to create online multimedia posters. It is an amazing site that is very simple to use. Each student has their own username and password, so have them give you a tour!
In science, we have learned that photosynthesis is the process of plants creating their own food (glucose). ย If you want to learn more about photosynthesis, you can check out one of our earlier posts about our game of photosynthesis tag or check out a couple examples of glogs below! ย If you scroll over the Glogster logo, you can view the poster in its full size. You can also click on speech bubbles to scroll through the text.
Thank you Ashley and Ben for sharing your wonderful glogs!

Dear Mr. Averyโs class,
I like how much information you learned during this assignment about photosynthesis. Even I learned something from reading the two diagrams on your blog like plants change light energy from the sun and use it to make sugar.

Dear Mr. Avery,
Glogster is very fun. It’s one of my favorite websites. My favorite website is your blog. Glogster is a great way for people to be creative.
From,
Ariel
Dear Mr. Avery,
I thought Glogster was so much fun. For my background I used flowers. I think the Valentine’s Day one was the best because my favorite shape is probably a heart. I also liked the photosynthesis one because you could use more graphics like a sun and a plant. I think Glogster is really fun.
From,
Jenna
Dear Class,
I’m so glad that everyone enjoyed using Glogster. It’s such a fun program. I had a lot of fun playing around with it when I was learning how to use it. There are so many great animations, backgrounds, and other pictures. I’m excited to have us use it in class again.
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I used a lot of graphics in my glog like a sun, plants, glucose and a lot more. I love using glogster; it is so much fun and you get to explore more and more things as you go on more. Ashley and Ben W. did a great job! They really explained the process of photosynthesis. I understood how it all works from the water to the glucose. Thank you for sharing those glogs on the blog.
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
Dear Mr. Avery,
I have to agree with Ariel. I loved Plant Jeopardy and I love the music. I did not think about using animated stuff for my glog. I must have forgotten that at first. Anyways, I can not wait to do electricity experiments! See you tommorow!
Sincerely,
Ashley ๐
Dear Mr. Avery,
Glogs on our blog is a cool way to get other kids to do projects but in a fun way. Also, I really enjoyed when we played Jeopardy. It was a lot of fun. I liked how we got to use the Smart Board and had the Jeopardy music!
From,
Ariel
Dear Mr. Avery,
I am learning so much about photosynthesis. It’s so interesting and I want to learn more about it. Do you have a book all about it?.
Sincerely,
Colin. B
Dear Colin,
I’m glad you’re so interested in photosynthesis! I don’t have any books in our classroom library about it but I know we have some in our school library. Maybe you and I can go down and take a look to see what we have!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
Glogster is so much fun. I liked the photosynthesis one the best because I like plants. I think the test on photosynthesis was very hard because I wasn’t there on Wednesday to play jeopardy. Well anyways, I think glogster is fun.
From,
Jenna
Dear Jenna,
I thought Glogster was really fun also. That stinks you weren’t there. The team I was on beat the other team by 200 points. I still thought the test was hard though.
From,
Ben W.
Dear Jenna and Ben,
We’ll be playing Jeopardy again. I’m really glad everyone enjoyed it. I thought it was great review on everything we had learned!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I think that Glogster is a cool way to do projects. Glogster would also be good for essays. I picked a waving plant because it looked alive. Thank you for sharing Glogster.
From,
Ariel
Dear Ariel,
I never thought to use it for essays. That would definitely help liven them up a bit. There are so many great graphics that you can use. I had never seen posters that you can use animation on before!
Keep working hard!
Your Teacher,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery, Ashley and Ben,
Wow! I really love your Glogs about photosynthesis! I have been wanting to use Glogster with my third graders and you have inspired me to get busy working on it. You did such a nice job explaining the process of photosynthesis, which can be tricky to do.
One of my favorite things about your Glogs is how colorful they are. That makes them very easy to read and understand. Also, I love how certain parts of the poster are animated! That makes the whole project look very professional!
Keep up the great work everyone!

Dear Mrs. Delgado,
Thanks for your comment! You were actually our 300th comment on our blog. We’re really excited!
Glogster is definitely a lot of fun to use. It looks really cool and you can share a lot of information. We hope you keep coming back to visit!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery’s Class
Dear Mrs.Delgato,
Thanks for the kind words. I have really enjoyed doing glogs and agree its a great learning site. I enjoy when we do it in class. Now as a sixth graderI have used glogster a lot more and it gets more and more insteresting each time you use it. I hope you enjoy it!
Sincerely,
Ashley S. ๐
Dear Mr. Avery,
The Photosynthesis tag was really fun. I got to be oxygen and i don’t think anyone caught me. I heard that they played Jeopardy and I missed out because I was in Jamaica. We had a test on photosynthesis on the 20th. I hope I did okay!
From,
Jenna
Dear Jenna,
I don’t know if “missed out” is the proper term to use. You were in Jamaica. If anything, I think we were the ones who missed out!
We did play Jeopardy though. It was a lot of fun. That’s one of my favorite game shows to watch!
Your Teacher,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
My favorite part about Glogster is seeing all the different things on it. I found my favorite rock band in it, K.I.S.S. The best ones are animated.
Sincerely,
Heston ๐
Heston,
You’ve got great taste in music. That’s the great thing about Glogster though, you can create a glog about anything.
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Hi Grade 4,
I really liked your glogs about photosynthesis – great job! I hope you don’t mind if I share them with some of the teachers at my school!
Ms. Wilson

Ms. Wilson,
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’d love for you to share these with some of the other teachers. We just started using Glogster and really enjoyed it. We’re going to find other fun ways to incorporate it in the future. ๐
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery’s Class
Dear Mr. Avery,
I think glogster is so much fun. I finished at the end of class. I like to do it at home. I never end up saving them though. I think it is easier to do it for a project. I like to also write it out.
Sincerely,
Ashley
Ashley,
I think you did an amazing job with your glog. You were so descriptive. I have to agree with Mr. Salsich, you made everything very clear.
I’m glad to know you enjoy using Glogster. We’ll be using it again in the future.
Your Teacher,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery’s class,
I have never tried glogster, but I always enjoy checking out glogs that other people have made. They are much more interesting than a regular poster, and you can share them with friends from all over. Do you think third grade students would enjoy using glogster?
I liked the glog on the post. It was very informative and easy to understand. I especially like how it said that plants let out oxygen because “it is useless to the plant.” That makes it very clear why they release oxygen from CO2 and H2O.
Great job!
From,
Mr. Salsich
Dear Mr. Salsich,
I think that your third graders will love Glogster. It’s very fun and you get to explore and learn new things. You can add different pictures and animations to make it much more interesting. We looked at some of your art that you did in class. You’re a really good artist!
Sincerely,
Natalie
Dear Mr. Salsich,
Thanks! On glogster you can do tons of things. I especially love the animated ones! They each have a different ways of moving. Each one is very unique in its own way. ๐
Sincerely,
Ashley
Wow! What awesome learning! The glog was fantastic! How did you make the flower actually turn? That was neat! My students did a couple of these on early explorers. It’s like making an interactive map! Nice job! Keep it up!
Mrs. Huebner
Sioux Rapids, IA
Dear Mrs. Huebner,
I read your comment and you were wondering how we made the flower turn. Well, you look at the pictures and it says something like features or something and you click on it and it makes it turn. I am so glad you enjoyed our blog. I love how people learn the same things in different places. I love glogs too.
Sincerely,
Natalie
What a great example of using Glogster to share what you’ve learned! Excellent use of images and text show information!
