I can’t believe it’s already December 23rd. Hanukkah has already begun. Kwanzaa starts in three days and Christmas is only two days away! In just a mere few hours, students will be walking out the door, not to walk back in until January 3rd.
It’s been a great start to the year. We’ve gotten so much accomplished since September. We’ve been able to travel the world while still inside our classroom through blogging and skyping. Everyone’s been working so hard and making amazing progress. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has to bring!
To celebrate what we’ve done so far this year, I have a couple videos to share below. I hope you enjoy!
Also, as a gift, Alyxandra created a couple Smileboxes. It’s one of the best gifts I could’ve gotten (except we’ll just ignore that little part at the end about the Steelers). Thank you so much!

P.S. I am Hannah’s brother.
Hi Luke,
Glad to see you writing in. How’s fourth grade going? It’s weird not teaching fourth grade anymore but I like teaching sixth grade a lot too!
Hope you’re working hard this year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,

Dear Mr. Avery,
That Animoto made me want to cry and I will at the end of the school year! I don’t want to leave Dennett and all of the WONDERFUL staff! π
Turtles(Tessa) π
Dear Tessa,
It’s going to be tough to watch all of you leaving at the end of the year. After having you not only once but TWICE, it’s going to be hard. I’ve truly enjoyed having all of you in class though and am really looking forward to making the end of the year video!
Glad to have you all back at school!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
Yeah you finally accepted my comment! I am very excited because Faith asked me to go ice skating with her tomorow! You still havent answered my questions yet. Can you please answer them? Please? Thanks for being such a great teacher!
~Sam
Dear Sam,
That should be a lot of fun! It definitely sounds like a great way to spend your last day of vacation! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday.
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I just finished watching all of the videos that you made and put up this year. I started crying when I watched the Thanksgiving Feast videos because I realized that it was the last Thanksgiving Feast we will ever attend at the Dennett School. Well, as 6th graders at least! You never know that maybe one of us will be the next middle school principle! Well, the ball will drop in about 10 minutes so HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Get ready for 2012!
~Sam
Dear Mr. Avery’s Class,
Its been a pleasure to read all the blogs, watch the videos and check out all the great things on this blog.
Its amazing! The children are so talented! Keep up the great work. I look forward to much more interesting reading while at home in Florida.
Grammy Jean ( Samantha’s Grandmother )
Dear Grammy Jean,
Thanks for commenting! I agree we are a talented bunch! Please comment in Florida!
XOXO,
Sam
Dear Mr. Avery
Hows your Holiday going? Was it amazing? Mine was! You will never guess where I went on Tuesday! I will not tell you because I am putting the pictures on a memory stick to show the class on Tuesday when we all go back to school. π I think that it’s funny that there is still no snow. What was the favorite thing that you got for Christmas? Mine is the giant purple lava lamp my grandma got for me. And yes, it’s PURPLE!
Happy New Year!
~Sam
Hi Sam,
My holidays were great! I got a lot accomplished. I did a lot of work around the house and as you can see, created a new background and header for the blog.
My favorite thing that I got was an iPad 2. My girlfriend and I decided that instead of buying each other presents, we’d just get an iPad instead. It made buying presents much easier!
So glad to see all of you back at school today and looking forward to seeing all of your pictures tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I’m putting a comment in from Naples, Florida! It’s so much fun here. This is the first chance I got to look at the videos. I really like them and even though the year’s not done, we still had quite a few pictures to put in. I can’t wait to come back and see every one again! See you soon!
Molly C.
Dear Molly,
Wow! It’s really cool that you are writing from Florida. We all miss you too. π
Thanks for the comment. See you again soon.
Sincerely,
Hannah K.
I love all of the pictures! The Smileboxes were awesome! I can’t wait to see what things we will be doing later on in the year! Happy holidays!
Dear Emma,
I’m glad you liked my Smileboxes! π It was hard finding pictures of the whole class without asking Mr. Avery for any new ones. The Elf Yourselfs still make me laugh though π Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Yewar! Can’t wait to get some presents.
Sincerely,
Alyxandra
Dear Mr. Avery and class,
You have put together quite an end-of-the-year post! I enjoyed looking at all the pictures and seeing how much you have learned. Those were some fancy dance steps you performed, Mr. Avery! π
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy 2012!
Your friend,
Mrs. Y♥llis
California
Dear Mr. Avery,
I am so glad you enjoyed my gift I made just for you! It took a lot of hard work but it was worth the smile on your face when you recieved it! π The caption is coming up on my computer, but the smilebox itself is not. I do not know if that is only my computer but I thought I should mention that. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Alyxandra
Dear Alyxandra,
The video you made was thoughtful and kind. We all thought it was cool and funny to look back on the year’s past. Sometimes we don’t even realize how different we look after one or two years because it REALLY is different.
Sincerely,
Molly C.
