This week we did many things. We did fun activities like multiplication bingo, made our second Z was Zapped letter, and we made similes. A simile is when you compare two words using like or as. A few examples are:
Everybody did a great job. In social studies, we are working on making our own project. In science, we are wrapping up food chains. In ELA, we are working on our at home project about Chris van Allsburg. In math, we are working on graphs and geometry. Have a nice weekend!
Can you think of any other similes?
Dear Mr. Avery,
I think the similes are amazing. Everyone did their own and they came out really good. Keep up all the good work.
From,
Jenna
@Emily B. – Emily, you did a great job coming up with a simile! I know your class will be learning all about them this year as well!
@Marshall – You’re becoming a simile expert! Those similes are amazing. Anyone who reads those is going to be so impressed!
Dear Mr. Avery,
I thought of a couple of similes. One is, the racket was as loud as a pack of dogs howling. The other is, the boat was as fast as a comet flying across the night sky.
Sincerely,
Marshall S.
Dear Mr. Avery,
Your class did a fantastic job on similes. I came up with one: I love writing as much as a dog likes food! Hope you like it!
Sincerly,
Emily B.
Dear 4th grade,
You all came up with some great similes! I hope that you’ll think about adding these to your writing. You’ve all shown me that you’re extremely creative!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I just thought of another good simile. When my stomach growled it sounded like a valcano about to erupt. Another one I came up with was “My head was as dizzy as a person hoola hooping.” Those are the two similes I came up with.

Jenna
Dear Mr. Avery,
I came up with a few similes. Here are some of mine The Christmas tree lit up like fireworks on fourth of July. Here is another one My stomach felt like it was going to erupt from a valcano.
From,
Jenna
Dear Mr. Avery,
I came up with two similes. The cat’s tongue was as rough as a piece of sandpaper. Another one is Christmas is as fun as a getting money.
Sincerely,
Ariel D.
Dear Mr. Avery,
I came up with a few similes like I saw a Christmas tree and it was as pretty as a just bloomed rose. Also, Mr. Avery is creative as Chris Van Allsburg.
Sincerely,
Natalie
Mr. Avery, I like the new post on the Weekly Challange! Can I have a hint?
Dear Mr. Avery,
I came up with a couple of similes. One is, I was as stuffed as a turkey on Thanksgiving day. Another one would be, Black Friday was as crazy as a dog when his food is put out.
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
Dear Mr. Avery,
A simile that I came up with is the turkey smelled as good as fresh laundry.
Sincerely,
Ashley S.
Dear Mr. Avery,
Another simile is my house is as hot as the surface of the sun.
Sincerely,
Mike K.
