Math Movie Network: Adding Decimals
We’re so excited to have our Math Movie Network website up and running! After taking some time to find great math videos to share, adding practice problems, and working out some small kinks, it is at a place where we feel it will be beneficial for so many others to use. And, while we haven’t had much of an opportunity to create new videos to add to it this year, we finally got around to a couple this week!
We added two new videos. The first video (above) was one that we created in order to try to introduce others to the Math Movie Network website and how to use it. We wanted to share what you can find there and how you can navigate through it. Jesse, Sam, and Irene walk you through some of the great aspects of our new site.
The second video that we created was based upon a new concept that we have, Math Movie Network: Movie Math. Some of the videos that we create this year will be based upon information from some of the different movies that are out in theaters. This week we used the money earned in the United States from Thor, Free Birds, Ender’s Game, Despicable Me 2, and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. We used this data to share how to add decimals. Watch Lauren, Melissa, Chris and Matthew as they do an incredible job teaching how to add decimals!

Thank you for sharing this great student project idea! I can see the students are leading the video creation and fully involved in the process. I can tell that they are producing high quality work because they know they are informing other students. This was a fun topic and a great way to demonstrate adding decimals! Hi Jordan,
I’m glad that the video tied in to what you were working on! It’s always great when we hear that others are able to learn from our videos!
