The holidays are upon us! As we move through December, we’re getting ready for our holiday break while many of our friends from across the world are just about to finish up their school year. Some of our great blogging buddies like 4KM and 4KJ and B4 are having their last day of school.
We wanted to find a way to wish everyone a happy holidays as well as tell our friends that we wanted to thank them for participating with us in some amazing projects this year! With that, we modified the 12 Days of Christmas song into the 12 Days of Blogging. We hope you enjoy and we hope you have a wonderful holiday season. We’ll see some of you back here in January and for the rest of you, we’ll see you when you start your new school year!

Dear Mr Avery,
I like your blog about the world and how it is set up. I think your blog is the best blog in the world because I can learn more about the world.
From Liam, Grade 4B, Mandama Primary School.
PS: We have a new blog in our grade. The address is: thinkandwonder.global2.vic.edu.au
Dear Mr Avery,
What great singing! I wish we can to that in my class in Australia.
From,
Anthony
Dear Mr. Avery,
I really enjoyed your song. I thought it was very creative. I love the way you put blogging into the classical song The Twelve Days of Christmas.
Sincerely,
Heston H.
I really enjoyed the video. I happen to come across your site in a search for blogging in the classroom. I was wondering what program you used for doing the video. I really like how it has different screens showing the different students. I am looking into incorporating video into a tool for my students. Would love to know more about how this video was created.
Dear Steve,
I’m glad you came across our blog! It’s always interesting to see how people stumble upon us.
For the video, I used Phothoshop to create a PNG file for the bars to separate the videos. For editing the actual videos, I used Avid Studio. It’s very similar to Pinnacle Studio but allows for unlimited layers of video/audio. It’s relatively inexpensive for video software as well. I think you can get it for about $120.00. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Hello Mr. Avery and Class,
I am an Ed Tech Support Provider in Napa, California. Lots of teachers in Napa want to use blogs but need some good ideas about how-to. I have used your blog as a demo, and we all LOVE your videos. Obviously, Mr. Avery is a bit of a “Techie”…with no small sense of humor. Awesome work, all of you. From us here in the Wine Country…cheers.
Hi Sarah,
Thank you so much for the compliment! We LOVE making our videos. It’s so much fun to learn how to work with the video camera, the software, and our green screen!
We hope the weather is a little bit better for you out there now than it is for us! It’s been pretty cold here lately. Luckily we haven’t gotten to much snow yet though.
We hope you continue to visit!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery’s Class
Dear Mr. Avery,
This video is really good. You are very clever in coming up with these things! Everyone was really good!
Your Friend,
Jacob B.
Dear Mr. Avery,
What a great video! It really gets me in the holiday and blogging spirit. I had no idea we had such singing talent at Dennett – Simon Cowell would be pleased. We’ve totally enjoyed the holiday, but I think Natalie is ready to get back to her favorite teachers and friends. Have a great New Year – 2013 is going to be even greater than 2012!
Amy (Natalie’s mom)
Dear Mr. Avery,
I spent my holidays with my family. On Christmas Eve, my mom’s side of the family came over and we had fun. On Christmas we went over my dad’s side of the family and we got lots of presents. Hope your holidays were just as fun.
Sincerely,
Marshall
Dear Mr Avery
Today I had the best Christmas ever I got a laptop. I hope you had a great Christmas!
From,
Joe
Hello Mr. Avery’s class,
What a wonderful way to finish off 2012! For you, it’s a winter break but for Australian students, this is the end of the school year as well as 1012. When you return in 2013, you will start the second half of the year and have the chance to meet students in the new 4KM and 4KJ.
Until next year, have a wonderful winter break. π

Great twist on the classic song and because of the way the video looks it reminds me of the beginning of the Brady Bunch television show. I am curious, who came up with each different thing for each day?

Dear Mr.Avery ,
I was very nervous fillming the video. It was really fun to sing and It was worth staying in for recess. I really like the background and the music, I really like this song and we should do more songs because they’re so much fun, well filming any video is fun.
For Christmas this year ,for the first time I’m having the dinner and presents at my house its a big change .
This weekend we’re going to New Hampshire and celebrating Christmas with my aunt uncle, other uncle and grandparents. I really hope it snows because if the lake freezes we can ice skate on it .
I hope you have a happy holiday and Merry Christmasββ.
Dear Mr. Avery,
I love the video! I like the beginning with the snow. They were really good in the video and I like all of the parts in it. Really good song and everyone did really good. I think for Christmas my family is coming over. Hope your holiday is great!

Dear Mr. Avery and class,
Thanks so much for Mystery Skyping with us today, it was a great experience. We really enjoyed the opportunity to put our problem solving skills to the test and learn more about Massachusetts.
When we were done we spent quite a bit of time on your website and were in awe of the things you’ve created together. You obviously have many great opportunities to learn new things.
Did you get a chance to watch our Mindshare entry on our website? It is our first experience with Green screen and we want to do a lot more with it in 2013.
We would like to keep in contact and do something else together in the new year.
Have a Merry Christmas!
Mr. McCleary’s grade 6 class
Dear Mr. Avery and class,
Everyone did a great job on the video! It was very creative. For the holiday I think I’m going to stay home. But I’m going to see my family for dessert after. And before Christmas I’m going to New Hampshire to see my aunt, uncle, baby cousins, and some other family members.
Have a great holiday!

Dear Mr. Avery,

Dear Mr Avery and class,
Thank you for your holiday wishes! Everyone in 4KM and 4KJ loved this video. They especially loved hearing their name. We all think you’re exceptionally clever to produce such a professional video.
I am really looking forward to the holidays. Our last day is on Friday and we will have about 5.5 weeks off. The teachers start back at school on January 29 and the children start on January 30.
Next year, Miss Jordan and I will be teaching grade four again and we’re introducing a 1:1 netbook program. It is sure to be an exciting year!
Your friend down under,
Mrs Morris
Dear Mr. Avery,
I can’t believe you already posted that video, it was such an exciting experience. I like the way it looked and how it was set up. Hopefully we can do similar videos just like this one. See you soon.
Sincerely,
Tristan!
By the way I looked at the blog heading and noticed a spelling error, you forgot the other “t” in Massachusetts.
The 12 days of blogging was awesome! Great job every one! And Merry Christmas!
Dear Mom,

Here are a few questions for anyone to answer:
* What will everyone be doing on their holidays?
* How long did it take you to make this very fine video?
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy all the time with family and also Christmas. Also make sure you also leave cookies, milk and carrots for the reindeer and Santa. And enjoy your presents!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Your blogging buddy,

Dear Mr Avery and class,
I am Skye from 4KJ and 4KM.
What a marvelous post! The video was so good. 4KM and 4KJ enjoyed watching it.
On my holidays I am going to enjoy Christmas and spending time with my family. I love opening presents. You should see how long my Christmas list is.
Since it’s summer I am also looking forward to the sunny weather. We are probably going to go to the beach and near by swimming pools.
I have a blog if you would like to visit: http://skyessuperblog.global2.vic.edu.au/
What are your plans for Christmas?
From your blogging buddy,

Dear Mr Avery and class,
I am Georgia from 4KM and 4KJ.
I love your Christmas post! What a great idea of a video.
Yes, I did enjoy your video. It was great watching it. You and your class are very creative and talented.
I also like your video because the twelve days of Christmas is one of my favourite Christmas songs to listen to. I don’t know the whole song but I like the tune.
On Christmas day I will be going to my grandparents house for lunch and my Aunties house for dinner.
For Christmas I would like a furby. Have you heard about them? If not, a furby is and interactive toy that makes noises.
Your friend down under,
Georgia
