It’s that time of year again. It’s time for us to nominate some of our favorite blogs for the 2012 Edublog Awards!
Through our blog, we’ve been able to connect with so many other amazing classes from around the world. We wanted to take the time to recognize some of the ones that we think deserve some accolades for all the incredible things that they share!
ย
Kathleen Morris does such an incredible job of sharing ways to safely incorporate technology into the classroom. She shares her invaluable blogging expertise that she’s gained through her incredibly successful class blog that she shares with Kelly Jordan. Her blog is a must read for anyone looking to find new ways to bring technology into the classroom.
Mr. Salsich’s class has been one that we’ve worked with many times over the past couple of years. Every single time, his third graders have amazed us with their hard work, creativity, and knowledge. We’ve grown very found of their class mascots and great videos that they always share with us. We’re certainly more than happy to nominate them for best class blog!
Georgia is a student in 4KM. One of our favorite parts of her blog is the Mystery Person that she has. She puts together a series of blog posts with each one providing different clues about who this person is. She allows people to comment to try and guess who it is. Eventually, once somebody guesses correctly, she shares who the Mystery Person was. It’s a great way to get conversations going with others!
You just don’t win a trip to Prague for nothing. There’s definitely a reason that Mrs. Hembree and her book trailers will be heading there shortly. You can check out all of the amazing work that she does introducing students to different stories through her book trailers and other fantastic posts on the Bulldog Reader Blog! It’s one that is definitely worthy of reading over and over again.
LearnZillion is an amazing new tool that has Common Core aligned videos created by educators. Each video comes complete with guided practice questions, a quick assessment, commentary from the video creator, and a downloadable PowerPoint. It’s definitely an amazing place to go to create personalized instruction for students!
As I write this post, Julie Hembree is in Prague to share as part of the Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum. Her work in getting children involved in reading and sharing through her Kids Lit Movies project is absolutely inspiring. In a world that is turning digital, Julie has created a blog that will turn students back to something that will never fade, a good book. It’s an honor to be able to nominated Julie for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Now it’s your turn. Make sure to nominate your favorite blogs for this year’s award. We’ll let you know once all of the nominees have been announced and when the award ceremony is! Until then, keep blogging!
Dear Mr. Avery,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your nominations! I didn’t see your blog post while I was in Prague, and Mrs. Morris let me know that you were responsible for the Lifetime Achievement nomination.
I always say I just have one goal, to get everyone to read! I love bringing tech into that goal and making learning fun!
I will write more about my trip next week, with links to the winning projects. I was so inspired by their work!
Your librarian friend,
Mrs. Hembree
Mrs. Hembree,
We were happy to nominate you! You always do such an amazing job with your blog and other projects and it obviously shows with your recent trip!
We’re really looking forward to reading all about your trip. I’m sure it was absolutely amazing!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery’s class
Dear Mr. Avery,
I agree with your choices for the blog awards. Were we one of the nominees? I hope we were because I know you worked very hard on the blog and you still are. Are these blogs mostly of students? Have we skyped with these classes before? I hope you can answer my questions!
Sincerely,
Ashley ๐
Dear Mr Avery,
Thank you heaps for nominating my blog! You are very kind.
Did you nominate my blog because I did you as the first Mystery Person?
You are the first person to nominate my blog! I’m not sure if anyone else is going to.
When Mrs Morris had told me that you nominated my blog, I went red and started cuping my face with my hands. I was embarrased.
Thank you again,
Your Blogging Buddy,
Georgia ๐
Dear Mr Avery,
Thank you so much for your kind nomination for my blog!
Georgia was also thrilled to receive your nomination for best student blog. I’m sure she’ll be writing you a comment herself to thank you.
It has been such a joy to have our classes blog together over the last couple of years. I hope the collaboration continues for a long time!
Good luck to everyone!
Your friend down under,
Mrs Mโrris
