Yesterday we were fortunate enough to skype with the Techie Kids in Michigan.
The Techie Kids are a group of students in Mrs. Moore’s technology class. They are a part of the Stories Around the World collaborative blog with us. They also had one of our favorite posts this year when we had to try to guess what their class mascot was. See if you can figure it out by clicking here.
While skyping with them, we shared lots of information about Massachusetts and learned lots about Michigan and their class. Here are a few of the facts that we learned:
We definitely learned a lot and had a lot of fun! Here are a few pictures of our experience!
We’re looking forward to continuing to blog with the Techie Kids throughout the year. Hopefully we’ll be able to skype again with them sometime!
What do Massachusetts and Michigan have in common?
What are differences between the two states?
Mr.Avery’s Class,
You did a really good job explaining when you skyped. I enjoyed reading it and it was very interesting.
Happy Blogging!
Dear Mr Avery,
We had fun Skyping with your class! Did you have fun? Here’s a fact that we didn’t get to share with you. We have hot, blazing summers. What kind of weather do you get in the summertime? Hot? Cold? Nice? Or bad? Let us know!
A Techie Kid,
Rachel

Dear Mr. Avery`s class,
We had an awesome time skyping with you. I hope you had a excellent time with us. Do you like our mascot Hugo? We learend a lot about Massachusetts like your states’ capital is Boston. We like the Tabby cat. Hope to skype with you again sometime.
From the techie kids,
Holly and Megan
Dear Mr. Avery,
Even though I didn’t get to ask a question, I still had a very fun time. Hopefully we can skype again. A few things that we have in common is that most of us have seen a tabby cat. We are both medium size states that have a humongous population. All of us had a interesting time skyping with you. A fact about Michigan is that we get a lot of dangerous weather.
Sincerly,
Techie Kid, Ryan
Dear Mr. Avery’s class
I had a great time Skyping with you. My favorite fact was that your state cat is the tabby cat. My neighbor has a tabby. She goes outside and catches birds. Like she doesn’t have enough food already! Thanks for the wonderful time!
Your blogging buddy,
Grace
Dear Mr. Avery,
I had a phenomonal time skyping with your class! I learned a lot about Massachussets and Michigan! Even though I didn’t get to say anything, I really had a genuine time! Fun fact about me: oddly enough, I have a shirt, that says, ” I Heart Massachusetts!” I thought that was one weird coincidence! My friend moved to Michigan from Massachusetts when she was just a baby. Thank you for giving my class some time to get to know your class!
One Smart Techie Kid,
Jenna
Dear Mr. Avery’s Class,
You guys may not have seen me, but I was one of the three camera people at our Skype session. Thank you for the really interesting facts about your state! Also, I never knew how populated your state is! I would really like to know more about your state!
From,
Techie Kid Connor
Dear Mr. Avery,
I am one of Mrs. Moores’ 5th grade students. We all really enjoyed skyping with everyone in your class! It was a little hard with 3rd grade also being in the same room with us but we all had a spectacular time skyping. What would your favorite thing be learning about Michigan? Mine would have to be the state dog! I absolutely love Boston Terriers and mostly all dogs! We hope to skype with you more whenever your free!
I loved skyping with you all. Please skype with us again whenever your free!
Your bloggging buddy,
Emma V.
Dear Mr. Avery,
I was glad we skyped with you! It was very fun!
It was just like the time my family skyped with my brother’s friend because he is in the army.
Sincerly,
Your Techie Kid friend Autymn
Dear Mr Avery’s class,
It was such a great pleasure skyping with you and your class. By the way your state is HUGE. I personally would like to skype with you again. I had fun.
Thanks,
Sydney=]
Dear Mr. Avery’s class,
We had so much fun skyping with all of you too! Many of the students had never skyped before. They absolutely loved it! Thanks for being such gracious hosts. We enjoyed all of the great facts you shared. Our favorite was learning that you could see whales near your home. That seems pretty amazing to us. It must be fun to live so near the ocean.
We thought of one fun fact that we forgot to share with you. Did you know that us Michiganders show people where we live by pointing to a location on our hand? It’s pretty nice to always have a map with us. 🙂
Thanks for a great Skype call. We can’t wait for the next one!
Your friends,
Mrs. Moore and the Techie Kids
Dear Mr. Avery,
I really enjoyed skyping with the Techie Kids. I enjoy skyping anyway! I can’t wait to Skype with the class from Australia next week!
Sincerely,

Dear Will G.
I loved skyping with your class. You were all so nice! I saw the pictures you took. I hope we can skype again. This was my first time skyping.
Talk to you soon,
Alexia a Techie Kid
Dear Will G,
We loved skyping. It was so cool to hear about how 4 presidents were born in your state. Their are a lot of interesting things about your state. When you guys said that you like to play soccer and football for resses we made some connections because we love to play that stuff for resses. We are not going to be able to play soccer or football any more because it can snow any day. What is the weather like in Massachusetts today?
From,
Rachel
Techie Kids
Dear Will G.,
I loved skyping with you guys and girls. I thought it was really cool that your state had 4 presidents born there. Well, in our state, we have no presidents that were born here. We have warm summers and cold winters. In Michigan, on any day it can rain because we are surrounded by the Great Lakes. Is your weather effected by living near the Atlantic Ocean?
From,
Monique a Techie Kid
Hello Mr. Avery. My name is Jacob. I am a 6th grade blogger in Ohio. Those are some pretty cool facts. I thought that Michagan was pretty hilly. I bet that would be a lot of fun doing it. Did you know that Michagan is surrounded by 4 of the 5 of the great lakes. What I got taught in 4th grade is by spelling out the Great Lakes (HOMES). H is for Huron. O is for Ontario. M for Michagan. E for Erie. And S for Superior.
Two things before I leave. #1 is that I heard in the summer that somebody was doing nature observing and a wolverine popped out of a tree in Michagan. #2 is that my science teacher wants to know how you guys got the SANTA and his sleigh!
Dear Jacob,
I’m glad you like and are observing our blog! Also when I was in the 4th grade I was taught to spell out HOMES for the Great Lakes! Thank you for the new interesting facts about Michigan. I did not know that!
Mr. Avery got Santa riding on his sleigh by finding a website and typing in the code on the blog. i hope that helped a little!
Have a very Merry Christmas! *<[:{) Sincerely, Alyxandra
