This week, we reached a milestone. We received our 1,000th comment from one of our very own classmates, Jenna K! We felt like this was quite the accomplishment since we only started our blog four months ago. In honor of this achievement, we decided to have a celebration!
Thank you to all the great bloggers who have helped to make our blog such a success! Without the support of all the great parents, students and teachers, there’s no way we ever would’ve gotten to this point! We look forward to reaching 2,000 comments!

Dear Mr. Avery,
It’s me Mikayla, from Mrs. Ranney’s class. I have very exciting news. The very exciting news is that we reached our goal of getting 10,000 visitors. Yeah! See you soon!
Your blogging budding,
Mikayla
Dear Mr. Avery and Class,
Hi, my name is Carly from Mrs. Ranney’s class. I am so excited that you reached 1,000 comments; I think that is an extraordinary amount of comments.
@Natalie S. I also think that it is interesting that you talked about sports on the VoiceThread! I think that it is one of my favorite posts on your classroom blog.
@Mr. Avery Just like you, I think that you will reach 2,000 comments by the end of you school year. When do you finish your school year? At the school I go to, we finish school on June 17.
Yours Truly,
Carly
Dear Mr. Avery,
I think we could reach 2,000 comments if everybody writes one hundred comments. Do you think we could reach 2,000?
Sincerely,
Natalie
Dear Mr. Avery,
Thanks for the information. I think you might be right that we don’t have Edublogs. By the way, thanks for saying that you might help us. We will try to help you reach 5,000 comments. I am so glad that we are having a long conversation. I hope we keep having conversations with each other. Type to you soon!
Your Blogging Buddy,
Mikayla
Dear Mr. Avery,
It’s me Mikayla, from Mrs. Ranney’s class. So far we have 9,138 visitors, so it will be soon when we reach 10,000 visitors. Since you finished typing 1,000 comments, you must be so proud because I am so proud of your class. How close are you to reaching your 5,000 comments? Hope to comment with you soon! How do you get a comment counter because we don’t have that?
Your Blogging Buddy,
Mikayla ★
Hi Mikayla,
We’re always so happy to hear from you! We’re very proud of ourselves for reaching 1,000 comments. We still have a long way to go until 5,000 though!
You should be proud of yourself for 10,000 visitors. You have about twice as many as we do! We’ll keep trying to help you reach that mark!
The comment counter is part of our blog on Edublogs. I know that you use Blogger and I don’t think you can check the number of comments on there. I could be wrong though!
Your friend,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
1,000 COMMENTS! I’m so excited! The party was so much fun. Maybe we could get 100 comments on this post. That would be cool! 10,000, that’s a lot of visitors. We’ll get there someday!
From,
Ariel
Dear Mr. Avery,
Hello! My name is Kaileah. I wanted to congratulate you on your accomplishment. How did you get that many comments? I thought that was really cool.
Sincerely,
Kaileah
Dear Mr Avery and Class,
Congratulations on reaching 1000 comments! The cake looked delicious!
We hope you reach 2000 comments soon! We’re sure you’ll get there – your posts are always very interesting.
We started our blog in February, and only have 103 comments – hopefully we can make it to 1000 by the end of the year!
Best wishes from Miss Goodey and 3/4G
🙂
Dear Miss Goodey,
Thank you for your kind words! It was absolutely scrumptious!
Best of luck as you continue adding on to your blog. Why don’t you leave us a link and we’ll help add to that comment total!
Thanks for helping us on our way towards 2,000 comments!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Thanks Mr Avery!
Our class blog is

Dear Mr. Avery,
The 1,000 comment party was really fun! We should try to get to 2,000. That would be really funny! What was your favorite thing?
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
Dear Natalie,
It was a lot of fun! I think we might be able to get to 2,000, if not by the end of the year, then at least by the end of the summer!
It’s so hard to pick a favorite thing that we’ve done for the blog this year! All of your videos that you made have been amazing. I think my favorite thing was our emotion VoiceThread though. All of you tried your absolute best on those writings and your use of similes and adjectives was great!
What has your favorite thing been so far?
Your friend,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I think my favorite part was the VoiceThread too. I got to talk about all the sports. That was so cool. What was your favorite post?
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
To Mr. Avery’s class,
I think it is really cool that you got 1000 comments. My class just started a blog. How did your class get 1000 comments?
Simone
Dear Simone,
Thank you for visiting! We started our blog in December so we started a little bit before you. We have had a lot of super commenters! They’ve written a lot of comments. We’ve also commented on other class blogs just like you are right now so then they would come back and comment on ours. We liked trying to get conversations going!
Good luck with your blog!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery and class,
Hello, my name is Mikayla from Mrs. Ranney’s class. You may know me because I have commented before on your blog.
I am so happy for you! It must be an amazing that you reached one of your goals. Our goal is to reach 10,000 comments. So we are working on making comments or visits. I am trying to help you by commenting on your blog. By the way, is your number 1,000 visits or comments? See you soon!
Your blogging buddy,
Mikayla ☆
Dear Mikayla,
We know you quite well! We definitely remember you from writing comments before. We’re glad we got to know your class better through Quad Blogging and we really enjoyed Skyping with you!
We reached 1,000 comments. Our next goal is to try to reach 5,000 visitors. We’re very close to that. We’ll help you try to reach your goal as well!
Thanks for visiting!
Your friend,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mikayla,
Hello, I am Kaylee from Mr. Avery’s class.
I guess we had the same goal. Now our goal is to reach 2,000 comments. Do you think we can do it by June 21, 2011?
From,
Kaylee
Dear Mr. Avery,
I’m so happy about the 1,000 comments. The cake and cookies were very good. Nice April fools trick dropping all the cookies.
From,
Ariel:)
Dear Ariel,
I’m very happy about it too! I love how involved all of you are with the blog. I think it’s helped us to meet a lot of new people including students like Ariel and Ella in Mrs. Ranney’s class!
It was very hard to trick all of you for April Fool’s Day! You were all expecting me to pull a big prank. I shouldn’t have told you about some of the other ones I’ve done before. I figured you all wouldn’t suspect me if I tripped and dropped the cookies though! It’s a good thing I didn’t drop the cake!
Your teacher,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery’s Class,
A BIG congratulations to all of you for reaching 1,000 comments! To get that many comments in only a few months means there have been a lot of conversations taking place. That is my favorite thing about blogging – sharing ideas and extending the learning through the comments. I’ll do my part to help you get to the next thousand!
It is a little too hard to choose just one favorite post, but the elapsed time video tutorial was definitely one of my favorites.
Your friend,
Mr. Salsich
Dear Mr. Salsich,
Thank you! We’ve had a lot of wonderful conversations taking place! We’ve learned so much from other students from our blog. We’ve received so many wonderful comments including from many of your students! You’ll have to thank them from us!
We look forward to discussing our kite project with you!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear class,
You have done a fantastic job getting to 1,000 comments.
How long have you had that blog for? Who’s idea was it to bring the cake in?
Your bl♥gging buddy,
Millie
Dear Millie,
Thank you for writing in on our blog! We’ve been very lucky to have a lot of great students like you write in to help us get to 1,000 comments!
We started our blog in December. So, we’ve had it for about four months. It’s been a lot of fun!
I brought the cake in to surprise my students for reaching 1,000 comments. They’ve worked so hard to get there so I thought they deserved a little surprise!
We hope to hear from you again!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr Avery,
That’s good. I wounder if we could Skype together if you have Skype.
Wow just in four moths! WOW, you have a great blog.
Your friend,
Millie
Dear Millie,
I do have Skype. We’ve used it a couple times in class to learn from other classes. The only trouble with Skype is that you’re fourteen hours ahead of me so when I’m awake, you’re usually sleeping and the other way around! When it’s 1 p.m. here, it’s 3 a.m. for you!
We really enjoy your blog as well. We always look forward to what else your class does!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery and class,
★ ★ ★ 1,000 Congratulations! ★ ★ ★
I enjoy visiting your blog because you always have quality writing, great images that help tell the story you’re trying to tell, and fabulous videos! Way to go!
I’m curious, what kind of cake was it? It sure looked delicious!
Your friend,
Mrs. Y♥llis
California
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
Thank you! We’ve really enjoyed you visiting as well as all the great comments you leave for us! We’ve enjoyed learning from your class and hope to find a way to collaborate in the future!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
It was definitely a blast! I think it was a vanilla cake. Mr. Avery bought it at the store. I got to pass it out to all the teachers. In all there is fourteen teachers! That’s a lot of teachers! How many teachers are at your school?
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
Dear Mrs.Y♥llis,
Thank You! 🙂 :). I am very happy about it. On Wednesday we had a thunderstorm. What was the weather in California? Also, Mr. Avery`s girlfriend came in to talk about teeth. 🙂 We learned a lot!
Your friend from Massachusetts,
Kaylee♥
Dear Mr. Avery,
I can’t believe I wrote the 1,000th comment! I got to hold the cake. Well, I got to hold the leftovers. That cake was one of the best cakes ever. Now that I look at my picture I don’t think it looks so bad. I was so happy that you brought the cake. I got the flower.
Mr. Avery you have to be the best teacher ever. You let us Skype and do fun things with us. I can’t wait until we reach the 2,000th comment, I mean if we do. I hope we can reach our goal again or at least 1,500. Your class next year will probably reach 1,000 like us. We will reach 1,500 by June. I will write a lot of comments. Happy commenting!
From,
Your 1,000 comment writer, Jenna
Dear Jenna,
You’ve done an amazing job writing comments this year. It’s very fitting that you wrote the 1,000th comment! I also think that was one of the best cakes ever and not just because it was delicious but because of the meaning behind it. You all deserved that. You’ve worked very hard to get to that 1,000 comment mark!
Now we start our journey towards 2,000 comments!
Your teacher,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
Congratulations on achieving 1,000 comments! That is so amazing! I think having a celebration cake was fabulous idea!
I enjoy visiting your blog and can’t believe you have only done this for 4 months! I showed your Avery Bunch video to our staff and they were amazed by your creativity.
Blogging is completely changing the way I approach teaching library skills. It is bringing the world inside our library. We just started in September, so I think we are pretty new bloggers. However, we are having lots of fun and learning new things every day!
On to 2,000 comments!
Mrs. Hembree
Dear Mrs. Hembree,
Thank you! We’re glad that we’re able to share our blog with you and others. We’ve also found blogging to change the way we approach some of our skills as well. It definitely helps to bring a sense of audience and voice to our writing!
We enjoy your blog as well. You’d never be able to tell that you just started in September! We look forward to learning from you and sharing with you moving forward!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mrs. Hembree,
I can’t believe it either! We will not get to two thousand. That would be impossible! Do you think we could get to two thousand?
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
Dear Mr. Avery’s class,
What a monumental accomplishment — 1000 comments in about 4 months! That cake looked scrumptious – I loved the writing and the flowers.
My favorite blog had to be the movie trailer. It was creative and well done. What I’ve learned from the blog was what Natalie learned from Mr. Avery, which she then taught me: the SACK method. When I’d write a boring comment, she’d say “Really mom? Where are your similes? Adjectives? Conversation nowhere to be found…Keywords? ARGH!” she’d say in exasperation. So, in order to not embarass Natalie, I try to incorporate the SACK elements where I can, so I’m not feeling embarassed like a dieter caught with her hand in the cookie jar (not that that has happened to me recently, like last night).
So class, in closing, I really appreciate the entertainment and education you’ve provided me.
Sincerely,
Amy (Natalie’s mom)
Mr. Avery’s class, Plympton, MA
Dear Mrs. C,
Thanks you for such a wonderful comment! I’m glad that Natalie is sharing so much about what we’ve learned in class. She does such an amazing job of incorporating those elements into her writing!
Thanks for visiting the blog, commenting, and helping us to reach such a huge milestone!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
Mrs. C can be Mrs. Clause! Thank you for the colossal compliment! I do my best to incorporate what I learn into my writing. What was your favorite post on the blog?
Sincerely,
Natalie S. 🙂
Dear Mom,
No, I wouldn’t say “Really mom? Where are your similes? Adjectives?” I don’t even like cookies. Also, we don’t have a cookie jar. Oh well! It is a post not a blog. Do you wish you were there? We had cake and two cookies.
P.S Please write back!
Sincerely,
Natalie S. 🙂 😛
