We’re proud to present to you our new collaborative blog with Mrs. Kaminski’s class in Chattanooga, Tennessee! The new blog is called On the Same Page. It’s a place where our two fourth grade classes will share our love for reading. We’ll be starting off by sharing and reviewing some of our favorite books. After we get to know one another a little bit better, we’ll start to have some book chats through Skype!
We’re really excited to build partnership with Mrs. Kaminski’s class to find out more about the similarities and differences in our preferences for books from 1,000 miles away! We hope you’ll join us and share some of your favorites as well!
Below you can see an example of one of the videos we created for the new blog. See if you can guess what books each student is talking about!

*What is your favorite book and why?*
Dear Mr. Avery
One of my many favorite books is called My Sister the Vampire. It’s a little bit horror and a little bit funny but it’s mostly about a human girl hanging out with her vampire sister.

Dear Mr. Avery,
Some of the books were easy to guess because people said too much information on their book. My favorite authors are J.K Rowling and Roald Dahl. They are both very detailed. They just make you feel like you’re sitting in the story.

Hi,
This is great to see. A lot has changed since I was in 4th grade so so many years ago:) The world is an open place for you to explore and it seems like your jumping right in. Keep up the good work!

On the Same Page sounds like a great way to meet other children your way. All of you will find Skyping to be a lot of fun. It’s a great way to stay in touch with people. When Mike’s cousin was studying abroad in Spain, our family stayed in touch via Skype. We just had to remember the 6 hour time difference.
Enjoy reading and chatting about books!
Sharon
Hi Mr. Avery and Class,
On the Same Page sounds like a fantastic venture. I hope that everyone involved has lot of fun. This will encourage and develop your reading skills.
Thanks for visiting our blog and leaving a comment. I am also a big fan of voki, although I am hoping that they reinstate the direct comment button as the children in my class really enjoyed this aspect of it.
Sophie our french poodle was a fun way to incorporate voki into our blog in a meaningful way.
Good luck with ‘On the Same Page’.

Hey, this sounds like it’s going to be a really fantastic project! You guys are going to have so much fun learning to Skype. I wish we’d done stuff like this in fourth grade.
Dear Mr. Avery,
My favorite author is Roald Dahl. I love Roald Dahl because he has very descriptive writing. When I am reading one of his books, he paints a picture in my mind. When I grow up, I want to write just like Roald Dahl. I think you write like Roald Dahl, because you are so descriptive and you can paint a picture in my mind too.
Sincerely,
Natalie S.
Dear Mr. Avery,
On the Same Page is a great idea. I can’t wait until we do an actual meeting with them. It’s very neat how you did all of the editing to work on all of the things that we did.

Dear Mr. Avery,
I like fantasy books. Anything can happen in fantasy books. I pretty much know everyone’s books because they told me!
I hope I get to do mine tomorrow! 🙂
Sincerely,
Ashley:)
