We wrapped up our animal unit in science today. As a final discussion piece, both classes came up with five words that we have talked about in science this year that remind us of animals. Below is our Wordle that we created. Again, the larger a word, the more times it was mentioned. The smaller a word, the fewer times it was brought up.
Don’t forget to click on it to enlarge it!
What words did you come up with and why?
What was your favorite part of our animal unit?
Dear Mr. Avery,
Your blog is awesome. I really like how your class uses Wordle. Last year, my class and I used Wordle. I love how it is created and the words you used.
From,
Mya
Hi Mya,
Thank you for the kind words! We like our blog a lot too! What did you use Wordle for? I think there are so many different ways it can be used so I’m curious to know how it was used in your school!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery
My class and I created nouns, verbs, adjective, and adverb Wordles in Language Arts. At the end of the year, my teacher gave us a Wordle that used words that described each student in our class.

Dear Mr. Avery,
Some of the words came up with are food chain, predators, food web, prey, and endangered. I like the wordle because you can see what other people wrote about animals and Chris Van Allsburg. I like the Chris Van Allsburg one the best. My favorite Chris Van Allsburg is the Widow’s Broom because it is in black and white. I really like Chris Van Allsburg books because they are creative and sometimes they are funny. My favorite part of science was the news cast. I had the Arctic Fox.
From,
Jenna
dear class,
The wordle is fun. It tells all about what people think about endangered animals. I think there so amazing and very active. I did the manatee it was the best. sincerly, Marshll
I came up with the living thing because all animals are living things .
I came up with endangered, predator, food chains, mammals, and prey because those are science words I learned. Also, my favorite animal unit was the news cast and researching the snow leopard!
I chose predators, prey, endangered, herbivores, and carnivores because those were some of the things that we learned about.
I loved the endangered animal report! The giant panda behind me was adorable! There are only 1,000 left in the wild. That’s so sad.
My favorite part was the video part. Well, I liked the fact finding part also.

Hi Class and Mr. Avery,
Looks like you’re doing lots of good work! Keep it up!

@Tristan – Those are great words! I wish we had taken pictures of our food chain tag so we could have shared all the fun we had with everyone! I thought it was really interesting how when we added in more hawks, we ended up with way less frogs, but more grasshoppers.
Hi Mr. Avery,
I chose mammals, food webs, and ecosystem because I did my endangered animal PowerPoint on the vaquita which is a mammal. I chose food web because I felt that there are a lot of different combinations for food chains for one community and I knew that the word for that was food web. I also did ecosystem because last tuesday when we played the food chain game when you are a hawk and you get a frog and you get a grasshopper and you have to give the hawk both one green and one yellow, the green for the frog and the yellow for the grasshopper.
@Mike – They certainly do! Those were great words to pick. I think they sum up a lot of what we learned about! Wish your sister luck at the play tonight!
I chose the words omnivores, herbivores, producers, decomposers, and ecosystem because they all tie in with animals.
